7 months agoFrom the moment you walk in, there is a warm and lively atmosphere that feels welcoming and unpretentious. It is the kind of place where families gather around large tables, friends catch up over tea, and plates of dim sum keep arriving. The yum cha selection is impressive and consistently fresh. The prawn dumplings are packed with flavour and have that perfect translucent wrapper with a slight chew. The pork and prawn shumai are generous in size and juicy without being greasy. The barbecue pork buns are soft, fluffy, and filled with sweet savoury goodness. Every basket that came to the table was hot and freshly steamed. One of the biggest highlights is the value. In a time where many yum cha spots have become expensive, Golden Rooster keeps its pricing reasonable while still delivering quality. Portions are generous and you can comfortably order a wide variety of dishes without feeling like you are overspending. It makes it ideal for group lunches where everyone wants to try a bit of everything. The fried options are just as enjoyable. The spring rolls are crisp and not overly oily. The deep fried prawn dumplings have a satisfying crunch on the outside and tender filling inside. Even the classics like sticky rice and turnip cake are done well, with balanced seasoning and good texture. Service is friendly and efficient. The staff move quickly during busy periods and are attentive without hovering. Dishes come out at a steady pace, so you are never waiting too long or feeling rushed. It is clear they are used to handling weekend crowds, and they do it well. The restaurant itself is spacious, clean, and comfortable. There is plenty of seating, making it suitable for larger groups or family gatherings. The overall feel is relaxed and community focused rather than overly formal, which suits yum cha perfectly. Golden Rooster has become a reliable go to spot for yum cha in Rosedale. The consistency, flavour, portion sizes, and value all combine to create a dining experience that keeps you coming back. Whether you are a regular yum cha fan or trying it for the first time, this place delivers.

5 months agoBeen here a few times recently for yum cha. The dim sum is really good, especially the red cheung fun and black sesame balls – must order every time. Great value. Tables are well spaced so it doesn’t feel crowded. Parking is easy too.
